Redcliffs Tumby Bay

This is a gorgeous little place called Redcliffs. Its a religous retreat and you can rent it out. We were the only ones there and look at what we had to put up with. There are a few cabins and about 12 powered sites($15 per site), a hall and kitchen, amenities and a free laundry. We were catching whiting off the beach and the water was so crystal clear and warm. Billy actually ran along the edge of the water with a huge stingray only meters away racing him. Thats how clear it was. You could see the fish before they jumped on your hook. We would still be there only a lady was having her 50th bday there with 35 others and she had booked the entire place for the weekend. Bugger!!!!!!!! By the way..we werent converted as there were no people there..
This is (or looks like) a petrified brain that was washed up on the beach. And naturally the boys had to jump on it..
We came to watch the Moonrise... I say we.. she was here a minute ago..tooo many reds maybe.
This is the near new full moon. We sat in bed and watched a pelican fishing in the water in the moonlight.. He had a good feed and it looked amazing.

Arno Bay

HEY UNCLE BRIAN....THAT'S NOT A SNAPPER....THIS IS A SNAPPER... I threw a line in off the jetty and look what I ended up with...I Love Arno Bay...
These are a couple of beauties Dave and Paul(friend we met at Arno) caught. The owner of the caravan park(Steve) took them out in his boat to catch snapper and thats exactly what they did. Dave also caught several huge stingrays but they were soooo big they broke the line.I think Dave said the line had a 4tonne breaking strain..haha they were lucky not to be dragged off to NZ. We met Paul and his wife Joe at the park and they were a great couple. They had been on the road for 2yrs already. AND....NOEL(brother) if you are reading this Paul is only 52.
Not bad for just tossing a line in hey!!!!!!
This is what happens to naughty snapper...we eat them not long after they are caught...even the backbones....YUM..
As you can see on the faces....its pretty darn good...

They even named a park and a beach after us....

Whyalla crabbing.

Here we have Dave raking in the crabs.. It is crazy,they just swim past you and you toss them into your bucket, or you rake the sand as Dave is doing and up they come..Note how shallow the water is. It is a shame the tides are so far out here because you have to walk all the way back to shore with your catch which can get pretty heavy too....I had a go but I was better at towing the bucket and taking photos...

Crabbing good time at Port Vincent

This is Dave all decked out with the latest crabbing gear, 2 rakes and a bucket on a rope.... which was all supplied might I add by the guys from Port Vincent Caravan Park and Seaside Cabins. They even gave us the cooker to use as well. We had so much fun. You just walk thru the sandy patches in water on low tide and rake the sand and when you hear the noise like you've hit a rock you rake it and flip the bloody crabs over and flick them into your bucket that you are towing behind. There were a few funniest home video moments. There were King George whiting swimming right next to us, as we didnt have our rods with us, Dave thought he would try to hit them with a rake...dint work naturally...but very very funny to watch..I fell over fully clothed in first 5mins which Dave thought quite funny too.
We cooked them to perfection and theeeennnnnnnnn...
AND....this is what happens.....YUMMMMOOOOO We ate 4 each..little piggies..

Port Vincent and Surrounds

This is our site at Port Vincent Caravan Park and Seaside Cabins. It's a fantastic park. Our hosts Mark and Sharon are great. Take note of the site sizes. They supply you with crab rakes to catch blue swimmer crabs. Haven't given it a go yet, I'm still coming to terms with actually raking for crabs, not scooping. We are hoping to get a feed before we go. We went for a drive down to the bigger van park in Port Vincent and we are so glad that we got in where we are. This park is sooo lay back and friendly. Anyway tis another hot one today, we are hoping to see a cool change this arvo..
This is the actual wind farm at Wattle Point. It takes a bit of wind to turn the blades, thats why Dave n Bill are doin there bit below.
How's this for a Pizza Oven!!!!!! We were at Wool Bay and this was a Limestone Kiln (pizza oven) that they used to burn limestone to make the ingredients to make mortar for the original buildings in Adelaide. I like the Pizza story myself.... This was right at the seaside opposite the jetty.
This Dave and Billy getting rid of their wind at the Wattle Point Wind Farm. Not sure if they are helping the greenhouse emissions or contributing to them!!!!!

Marion Bay, Innes Nat. Park and Port Vincent.

This is Port Vincent golf course and Billy forgot his clubs, so we thought we would show you what it would look like if he had played... Also it was only 41degs again, so a bit hot under foot. What a place to tee off from. Look at the view behind him. We are on a cliff top here.
Take note of the manicured fairways in the background too.
This is a little cool dude we picked up in the Innes National Park. It was beautiful and Billy made a wonderful job of his sandcastle....
Billy trying to save Dave from drowning. He did a great job. The water was unreal. The beaches in The National Park were not very busy, we were the only ones on this beach in Dolphin Bay other than another family.
Our shot doesn't show the true colours here, they were amazing. This was in the Innes National Park and it was very beautiful.
Everywhere you go the water is soooo clear and blue. Notice another tractor on the beach.
This is how you launch your boats down here. Like everyone owns a tractor!!!!! They are just left in the salt water until they come back.

Car Fall Down

Doesn't it look sad... We actually had a new radiator put in 5wks ago in Newy and we made it to just nth of Adelaide and we stopped for fuel and we noticed all this green stuff gushing out of car. Oh bugger we said. (Yeh right) Apparently they had put the wrong radiator in when they replaced it. Luckily covered by warrenty and day before new years eve we had it replaced again and had a night at a van park on the side of the freeway. It was only 40degs so that was great too. The guys were really great to do the job as everywhere was still closed for xmas. Back on the road next day and off to Port Broughton. Not a picture we want to see again.
