Darwin wave pool and Air Museum

This is Darwin Military Museum and this is the B52 that the USA left behind. It is unreal the enormity of it. You can see how big it is by the size of the planes and jets under it at the back. There was so much history in this place. We learnt that Darwin was bombed 64 times in the war. We were always taught that Darwin got bombed but never how many times. Maybe I wasnt listening in that lesson.
Thats not a gun !!! This is a gun!!!!!
REAL coffee at Darwin mall. Good cake too.
Darwin wave pool, Billy had a ball but as far as wave pools go, its just another place to get pumbled by waves from every direction.

Katherine Gorge.

Captain Billy at the helm. Its really handy having Billy on trip as we always get special treatment and he gets to the front of every line and so we have to go with him. Oh Bugger.
Katherine Gorge is a very pretty place. It would be amazing to see in the wet season. The amount of water coming through this gorge would be unbelievable..
ust one of the beautiful gorges here.

Mataranka Hot Springs

This at Mataranka Hot Springs and it is BEAUTIFUL. The water is 34deg and crystal clear. In the middle it about 12 ft deep. We stayed in here for bout 2hrs.

On way across the nothing, nothing.

This was one of our free camps and as you will see above we dont go without... We were in the middle of nowhere and we were watching the footy on friday night. The old satellite dish came in handy.
I wonder what he is doing????

Lawn Hill National Park

We are swimming in this beautiful little waterfall, it was really pretty in this stream. Usaully in the wet season it pores through here. The water is so deep here.
This was one of our friendly little freshwater crocs we saw on our way paddling up the stream at Lawn Hill. We saw him after we had been swimming in the same water... They are sooo hard to see in the wild.
This is what you see coming down the road, some of these road trains have up to 5 trailors. Pretty scary as they fly. This is before and.....
AND this is after he goes by. You had to sit and wait for at least 60secs before you could continue driving...

Darwin

More to come later, we have to go out for dinner......

Karumba

Yes its a sunset and now I know why people rave over the Karumba sunsets. It was soooo nice.
These are some of the fishies Dave caught when he went out on a fishing charter. These were Blue salmon and they were bloody good eating.
Billy and Dave had a few drinkies in the Animal Bar at Karumba hotel.

Mt Surprise and Undarra Lava tubes

These are the Undarra Lava Tubes and they are beautiful as you can see from the pic. The colours were amazing.
Being idiots on the railway bridge, that the train does use on TUESDAYS.....
Dave had a bit of fun with Billy telling him that the train only comes in on a thursday and today was tuesday so we could go and play on the train tracks. Naturally Deni had to be the goose and do the Whacky races thing and lie down on the tracks yeh yeh. Dave kept tellin Bill he could hear the train coming and of course Bill believed him and panicked each time. When we walked off the tracks and headed for the park again we joked again and then we turned around because we could hear this noise and it was the bloody train going past. Apparently it was a special train full of visitors, and it could have bloody killed us.
This is the dead centre of town in Mt Surprise. They put a whole lot of effort into looking after the cemetery. We had great fun at this place, we would have liked to have stayed longer but we were on our mission to get to Darwin and get ready to go to Bali. We will never book anything in advance again on this trip as we would have liked to spend more time in some of the places in Nth QLD and The Outback. Oh well you learn these things... We stayed in a great park here and the people are really nice who run the park.

Ravonshoe

Sorry it has been awhile since we updated. Well you can thank good old OPTUS for not giving us reception to do the blog. Anyway we are up and running again and this is Billy standing in 13deg watching the old steam train take off. It only runs once a week and we just missed it.
